Sri Lanka, April 28 -- The Chief Secretary of the Uva Province and former Director of the National Fertiliser Secretariat, Mahesh Gammampila, was arrested by the Bribery Commission (CIABOC) over the importation of an alleged consignment of substandard fertiliser in 2021, during which he was an Additional Secretary (Development) of the State Ministry of Agriculture.

He was remanded until May 5 after being produced before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate's Court.
