Sri Lanka, Jan. 17 -- A heated confrontation broke out between police and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) members last night during preparations for an event in Thambutthegama.
The clash occurred while supporters were decorating the venue for a ceremony scheduled for today (17), where SLPP National Organiser and MP Namal Rajapaksa was set to award appointment letters to Kalawewa constituency representatives.
Police intervention during the setup led to a standoff involving former MPs Tissa Kuttiarachchi and Sanjeeva Edirimanna, alongside party activists.
