Srilanka, Dec. 10 -- The Ceylon Teachers' Union is requesting that the government implement an urgent relief loan program for teachers and principals affected by the recent disaster.
The General Secretary of the Teachers' Union, Joseph Stalin, said many were severely impacted by the disaster and are currently struggling with existing loans and other financial burdens.
He called on the government to provide financial assistance to the affected educators, including loan concessions or loan cancellations.
He also mentioned that the existing 'Suraksha' insurance scheme could be utilised for students, but pointed out that details regarding its benefits remain unclear.
