Sri Lanka, Dec. 11 -- A man found guilty of a murder committed 12 years ago in Lunugamwehera was sentenced to death today (11) by Hambantota High Court Judge, Priyantha Liyanage.

The individual sentenced to death is Geeganage Nimalasena, a resident of the Lunugamwehera area.

The prosecution successfully argued that the accused, due to a personal dispute, murdered a man named Gamage Premasiri, also of Lunugamwehera, on or around March 14, 2013, and subsequently buried the body.

The case proceeded after the Lunugamwehera Police received information and arrested the individual.

Following the initial magisterial inquiry, the Attorney General filed indictments against him before the Hambantota High Court on murder charges.
