Sri Lanka, Sept. 18 -- A suspect nicknamed Samanalaya, who escaped from prison officers, has been re-arrested and remanded until September 22 by the Kalutara Magistrate's Court.

The suspect, Jamuni Harsha Lakmal, a resident of Nagoda, was initially arrested over with the robbery of a motorcycle worth Rs.642,000.

After his escape, police received a tip-off that he was receiving treatment at the Kalutara Nagoda Teaching Hospital.

Southern Kalutara Police acted on the information, re-arresting the suspect and presenting him before the courts.

Further investigations are now being conducted under the direction of Kalutara Headquarters Chief Police Inspector Ruwan Wijesinghe.
