Sri Lanka, March 14 -- Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate Nalaka Sanjeewa Jayasuriya granted permission for police to detain and question the 34-year-old suspect accused of raping a female trainee specialist doctor at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for 48 hours.

The suspect was produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court today.

Meanwhile, the elder sister of the main suspect and another person were arrested and produced before the court in connection with the incident, and they were ordered to be remanded until the 17th.

An unidentified individual had entered the official hostel of a 32-year-old trainee doctor at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and threatened her with a sharp weapon before raping her between 6.30 and 7.00 pm ...
