Sri Lanka, Dec. 29 -- A police constable, who had previously alleged being assaulted by National People's Power Ratnapura District MP Shanth Padmakumar and is currently under suspension, has filed a complaint with the police seeking protection for his safety.
Today (28), the constable and his wife were summoned to the Kolonnawa police station to record a statement regarding the incident.
The constable was suspended and later arrested following a raid at a property allegedly owned by MP Padmakumar's family in connection with cannabis cultivation. He was subsequently released on a Rs. 200,000 personal bail and filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission about the alleged injustice during his suspension and arrest.
