Sri Lanka, June 6 -- Seven petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the government's proposed Electricity Bill, arguing that certain clauses are unconstitutional.
The petitioners include the Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers' Union, the Sri Lanka Green Organisation, and Frontline Socialist Party Propaganda Secretary Duminda Nagamuwa, among others.
These petitions were taken up today (6), before a three-judge Supreme Court bench comprising Justices A. H. M. D. Nawaz, Kumuduni Wickramasinghe, and Shiran Gunaratne.
The court has ordered that the hearing of these petitions will begin on June 11.
