Sri Lanka, Feb. 7 -- The Supreme Court has ordered that the petition filed against former Excise Commissioner M.J. Gunasiri and others, alleging contempt of court, be called on May 29 for confirmation of the facts.A Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Murdu Fernando, Justices Yasantha Kodagoda and Arjuna Obeysekara made this order today after lawyers from both sides requested a date for fact confirmation.The petition, filed by members of the Licensed Liquor Owners Association, alleges that the Commissioner General of Excise and the respondents violated an interim injunction issued by the Supreme Court during the previous government, which prohibited issuing liquor licenses unlawfully.
