Sri Lanka, May 16 -- The Supreme Court ordered that the Fundamental Rights petition, alleging a violation of rights by police actions during a protest at Polduwa junction, Battaramulla in 2024, filed by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and a group of National People's Power (NPP) members, be taken up for consideration on June 19.
The case was heard by a bench comprising Justices S. Thurai Raja and Menaka Wijesundara.
As no legal representation appeared on behalf of the petitioners, the bench ordered notices to be reissued to them and scheduled the next hearing for June 19.
