Sri Lanka, July 22 -- The Supreme Court today (22), issued an interim injunction, halting the implementation of a previous Court of Appeal decision.
That Court of Appeal ruling had invalidated a letter sent by the Attorney General to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) that named the then Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of the Western Province, Deshabandu Tennakoon, as a suspect in the attack on the "Gota Go Gama" protest site in Galle Face on the May, 9 2022.
A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court issued this order after granting leave to proceed with an appeal filed by the Attorney General.
