Sri Lanka, June 12 -- The Supreme Court has concluded hearings on petitions filed against the proposed Electricity Reforms Bill and announced that its confidential decision will be sent to the Speaker of Parliament.

Seven parties, including the Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers' Union, filed petitions challenging certain clauses of the bill. The petitions were heard before a three-judge Supreme Court bench comprising Justices A.H.M.D. Nawaz, Arjuna Obeyesekere, and Priyantha Fernando.

During today's proceedings, lawyers for the petitioners concluded their submissions, followed by Additional Solicitor General Viveka Siriwardena, who represented the Attorney General.
