Sri Lanka, Jan. 15 -- A twelve-year-old schoolboy passed away last night (14) after being admitted to the Kinniya Hospital due to an electric shock sustained while inspecting a faulty water motor.

Kinniya Police reported that the child attempted to check the equipment at his home.

The deceased, identified as Abdul Kader Sadik, resided in Kakamune, Kinniya, and attended the seventh grade at the Kakamune Government Mixed School.

Preliminary police investigations revealed that the electric shock occurred as the student inspected the water motor after it failed to function.

Kinniya Police OIC W.H.C.K. Fernando initiated an investigation and transferred the body to the Trincomalee Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
