Sri Lanka, July 19 -- Sri Lanka can expect strong winds to continue until July 25, due to the active south-west monsoon and atmospheric disturbances.

Athula Karunanayake, Director-General of the Department of Meteorology, says winds could reach up to 60 kilometres per hour in the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North Western, and North Central provinces.

Other areas might experience winds of up to 40 kilometres per hour at times.

Over the past 24 hours, ending at 8:30 AM this morning, the highest rainfall was recorded in the Canyon area, with 106 millimetres.
