Sri Lanka, May 27 -- Hospital services across Sri Lanka are facing disruptions today (27) as two groups affiliated with the Joint Council of Supplementary Medical Professions began a strike at 8:00 AM.

They are protesting the what they call the authorities' failure to resolve the crisis surrounding the recruitment of graduates into the health service.

The Joint Council of Supplementary Medical Professions stated that if the Minister of Health and other officials continue to be unresponsive, discussions are underway to initiate a continuous strike involving all seven professional groups within the supplementary medical services.
