Sri Lanka, May 31 -- A cashier from the Kaduwela branch of a State Bank has been remanded until the June 13 over an incident where Rs.135 million held in the bank's branch were allegedly credited to various other bank accounts. The motive behind this was reportedly to obtain daily interest.

The suspect was influenced by a WhatsApp call from a young woman who claimed that a ten per cent daily interest could be earned on deposited amounts. The cashier initially credited Rs.30,000 to an account provided by the woman and, within a few hours, received Rs.33,000 in return.
