Sri Lanka, July 2 -- Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has officially announced the launch of Starlink satellite internet services in Sri Lanka.

In a post on X, Musk stated, "Starlink now available in Sri Lanka!", marking a significant milestone in the country's digital connectivity.

Starlink received regulatory approval in August 2024, following legislative amendments to Sri Lanka's telecommunications laws to accommodate satellite-based internet services.

Just last week, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne revealed that a pilot project using 10 Starlink devices was already in progress, testing the service's feasibility and performance.
