Sri Lanka, Jan. 9 -- Fort Police have arrested a taxi driver twelve days after he allegedly stole a bag containing cash and property worth nearly Rs. 1.3 million from a retired police officer from Kuwait.



The forty-two-year-old suspect was found in possession of USD 2,000, KWD 112, and various bank cards and documents.



The victim had arrived in the country on 26 December and travelled from Katunayake Airport to a hotel in Colombo Fort in a luxury rental car.



The breakthrough in the case came after police reviewed CCTV footage from the airport, which proved the officer entered the vehicle with two bags, contradicting the driver's initial claims.
