Sri Lanka, Feb. 21 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with provincial and municipal councils in South Korea to facilitate Sri Lankan participation in the country's seasonal worker program under the E-8 visa category.
Introduced by the South Korean government to address labor shortages in the agriculture and fisheries sectors, the program legally allows foreign workers to be recruited for short-term employment. With the consent of Korean provincial and municipal councils, cooperation has been established to provide opportunities for Sri Lankan workers under this initiative.
