Sri Lanka, June 17 -- The Sri Lankan government is focusing on creating a food security index unique to the country within the next three months. This initiative stems from the understanding that existing global indices, such as the Global Food Security Index (GFSI), do not accurately reflect the overall food security situation in Sri Lanka, and available data is often insufficient or inaccurate, making effective policy decisions difficult.
Therefore, this new food security index will be developed to identify priorities and targets related to Sri Lanka's food security for the next five years, enabling more precise policy-making.
