Sri Lanka, July 18 -- Sri Lanka has welcomed 98,765 tourists in the first 16 days of July, marking an increase of 1,724 visitors compared to the same period in 2024.
This brings the total number of tourist arrivals for the year to over 1.26 million.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has projected 277,195 tourist arrivals for July.
However, with only 98,765 arrivals recorded up to July 16, an additional 178,430 tourists are needed in the remaining 15 days of the month to meet this target.
This translates to an average daily arrival of approximately 11,895 tourists, requiring a 64% growth in daily arrivals-a significant challenge for the industry.
