Sri Lanka, May 14 -- Sri Lanka's potential in poultry exports is being hindered by restrictions on maize imports, including import duties and licensing procedures, according to Ceylon Grain Elevators, a feed miller and poultry company.

In their annual report to shareholders, CGE highlighted that "export market opportunities present significant growth potential for the poultry industry with the expectation of positive support from the government."

The company also expressed hope that "authorities will grant the permits to import maize promptly to overcome the challenges that the industry is facing due to the shortage of key raw materials."
