Sri Lanka, Feb. 11 -- The Sri Lanka Police has decided to establish a Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) to address ongoing and recent crimes more effectively.

According to Police Headquarters, the new bureau will function under Deputy Inspector General of Police, Attorney-at-Law Nihal Thalduwa, with Senior Superintendent of Police Shani Abeysekara is expected to serve as its director.

The CCIB will operate six divisions: the Illegal Assets Investigation Division, the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Division, the Computer Crime Investigation Division, the Human Trafficking, Smuggling Investigation and Maritime Crime Investigation Division, and the Criminal Intelligence and Intelligence Analysis Division.
