Sri Lanka, April 27 -- The current conflict between India and Pakistan is rooted more in ideological divisions than border disputes.
That being said, it would be imperative for Sri Lanka to take lessons from history, and maintain a non-aligned relationship, should the situation escalate further.
These were some of the views shared by former ambassador, and first secretary-general of BIMSEC, Sumith Nakandala.
Speaking to Hiru News on the repercussions of the recent terror attacks in Kashmir, Nakandala acknowledged that while tensions between India and Pakistan are not new, the current heightened emotions within the Indian public and the formidable responses from both governments mark a significant shift.
