Sri Lanka, May 8 -- Sri Lanka's government reported a budget deficit of Rs.498.28 billion for the first quarter of 2025.
According to the Financial Performance Statement presented to the Cabinet, revenue reached 1.06 trillion rupees, while spending totalled Rs.1.56 trillion.
Tax revenue constituted the majority of income, and recurring expenditure dominated spending.
This report fulfils the legal requirement under the Public Finance Management Act.
