Sri Lanka, April 12 -- Special bus and train services are still operating today for people returning to their villages for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

Yesterday, a large number of people gathered at key transport hubs including the Pettah - Bastion Mawatha Private Bus Stand, the Central Bus Stand, the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Centre, and the Fort Railway Station to travel home for the festive season.

Sherin Athukorala, Director of Operations and Service Supervision at the National Transport Commission, stated that adequate buses have been deployed today to accommodate passenger demand.
