Sri Lanka, June 20 -- The Parliament Affairs Committee, chaired by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, decided today (20) to hold a special parliamentary sitting on the 30th of June.

According to a statement issued by Parliament, this special session is convened to fulfil the requirement of the Public Finance Management Act No. 44 of 2024, specifically Section 11, which mandates the government to present a Fiscal Strategy Statement on or before 30th of June each year.

In accordance with Parliament's Standing Order 16, the Speaker will convene Parliament at 9:30 AM on June 30, following a request from the Prime Minister.

The government-led adjournment debate related to this matter is scheduled to continue until 4:30 PM on the same day.
