Sri Lanka, May 13 -- A special mosquito control week will begin on May 19 to address the rising number of dengue cases across the country.

The National Dengue Control Unit stated that the increase in patients is mainly due to the ongoing adverse weather conditions, which have created more breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

As of yesterday (12), a total of 19,724 dengue cases have been reported so far this year, with the highest number coming from the Western Province.
