Sri Lanka, Feb. 21 -- An army soldier died in a tragic accident while ploughing a field with a hand tractor in Dimbulapathana.

The victim, Dasantha Chandika Herath, 32, a resident of Vijayabahukande, Bogahawatta, had returned home on leave and was preparing a rented plot for vegetable cultivation when the accident occurred yesterday (20) afternoon.

According to police investigations, the tractor's accelerator got stuck, causing it to lurch forward uncontrollably. In his attempt to stop it, he became trapped in the plough and succumbed to his injuries.

Dimbulapathana Police are conducting further investigations.
