Sri Lanka, Dec. 26 -- The Sri Lanka Working Journalists' Association (SLWJA) issued a statement condemning efforts to cancel media licenses, labeling it a severe suppression of freedom of speech and expression. The association expressed strong disapproval over the police requesting the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission to revoke the broadcasting license of Hiru Media, following a report regarding a cannabis plantation allegedly linked to a government-affiliated party.
