Sri Lanka, Oct. 18 -- The Nuwara Eliya District Disaster Management Unit reports that one sluice gate of the Upper Kotmale Reservoir has been opened since last night (October 17) due to heavy rainfall in its catchment areas.
The Disaster Management Unit requests residents living on both banks of the Kotmale Oya below the reservoir dam to remain vigilant, as the remaining sluice gates will open automatically if heavy rain continues to fall in the catchment areas.
The water levels of the St. Clair and Devon waterfalls have also risen due to the heavy rainfall in the region.
