Sri Lanka, July 23 -- The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) yesterday(22) assured the Supreme Court that it would take immediate legal action against individuals illegally engaging in tourist guiding activities.This pledge was made when a fundamental rights petition, filed by the Sri Lanka Tourist Guide Lecturers Association, was called before a three-judge Supreme Court bench comprising Justices S. Thurairaja, Mahinda Samayawardena, and Menaka Wijesundera.

The lawyer representing the petitioners argued before the court that illegal tour guides were causing the collapse of the tourism industry, leading to a complete loss of foreign exchange for the country.
