Sri Lanka, Sept. 6 -- The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has decided to immediately suspend the party membership of Sampath Manamperi, who is a resident of Thalawa in Angunakolapelessa.

In a statement, SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam said the party took the step after allegations were made that Manamperi was in possession of raw materials used for drug production.

The Secretary added that the party will not be lenient with those facing such charges.

He said the SLPP expects the investigation into these serious allegations to be concluded swiftly so the public can be informed of the truth.
