Sri Lanka, Feb. 9 -- The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP)-led joint opposition secured a complete victory in the election for the Board of Directors of the Kurunegala Cooperative Society.

While the National People's Power (NPP) also contested the election, they failed to secure any seats on the board.

The election took place at the Cooperative building to appoint the Chairman and the Board of Directors for the upcoming three-year term.

The SLPP-led alliance won all eight director positions, effectively shutting out the NPP candidates.

Following the victory, former Chairman Jayapathma Wanninayake was re-elected to lead the cooperative.
