Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has launched a scholarship programme to assist with the education of children whose parents are registered migrant workers.

A total of 1,628 scholarships, valued at Rs. 50.88 million, are to be awarded under the programme.

The first phase of the initiative was held at the bureau's auditorium on 31 August, where scholarships worth Rs. 2.655 million were distributed among 84 children of migrant workers residing in the Colombo District.

The scholarships were awarded to 17 students who passed the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination (Rs. 25,000 each), 45 students who passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination (Rs. 30,000 each), and 22 students who passed the G.C.E. Advan...
