Sri Lanka, Aug. 2 -- The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment has filed 567 court cases against individuals and unlicensed agencies involved in foreign employment fraud during the past seven months.

The bureau has also recovered over Rs.19.4 million for victims during this period.

The SLBFE said it has received 2,620 complaints so far this year.

The Special Investigation Division of the bureau has arrested 36 fraudsters, including seven people from licensed employment agencies.

The bureau noted that in 2024, it recovered Rs.18.25 million for victims and received a total of 4,658 foreign employment-related complaints.
