Sri Lanka, July 8 -- The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) today (8), successfully secured control of the Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Sabha, where the opposition held a majority in the last local government election, and appointed its chairman.

During the inaugural session of the Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Sabha held today, Indika Prasad Ranasinghe, the SJB candidate, was elected as the new Chairman of the Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Sabha by a majority vote.
