Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Member of Parliament Prasad Siriwardena has publicly apologised to government MP Lakmali Hemachandra after a contentious discussion in Parliament on Wednesday (10).

The apology follows claims that Siriwardena's comments during the debate contained sexist undertones.

Siriwardena expressed his sincere regret, noting that his remark may have been taken as a personal slight.

He clarified that the statement was made in frustration after his microphone was switched off while he was speaking.

He emphasised that his political disagreements are based on policy, not personal attacks.
