Sri Lanka, May 8 -- Showers are likely to continue over several parts of the island today (8), according to the Meteorological Department.

Showers or thundershowers are likely to occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Southern and Eastern provinces after 1 pm, it said.Some areas may also experience fairly heavy rains exceeding 50mm, it added.The Met Department also noted that thundershowers are likely to occur in other parts of the island this evening or at night.
