Sri Lanka, Sept. 5 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather update indicating that a few showers are likely in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya and Jaffna districts today (5).
In addition, showers or thundershowers may occur after 2:00 p.m. in Uva province and in the districts of Ampara, Batticaloa and Mullaitivu.
Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere on the island.
The Met Department also warned of fairly strong winds ranging between 30-40 kmph, which may affect the western slopes of the central hills, as well as the North-central and North-western provinces and Hambantota district.
Meanwhile, the Department highlighted a celestial event currently underway.
