Sri Lanka, May 16 -- Police report that a shooting incident occurred in the Wilawatta area of Chilaw.

Initial investigations suggest that a family dispute escalated, leading to the husband shooting his wife using an air rifle.

Following the shooting, the husband reportedly attempted to hang himself.

The Chilaw Police Station OIC told Hiru News that both individuals have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Further investigations into the incident are currently underway.
