Sri Lanka, July 2 -- The evidence hearing in the case against Shashi Weerawansa, wife of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, has been postponed to November 11, by order of Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela.
She is accused of obtaining a diplomatic passport by submitting a forged birth certificate.
The Additional Magistrate decided to postpone the trial after considering a request from the prosecution, as Additional Solicitor General Dheereepa Peiris, appearing for the complainant, is scheduled to appear for an evidence hearing before a special parliamentary committee.
The case was filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against Shashi Weerawansa, following a complaint made by a person named H. Chaminda.
