Sri Lanka, May 30 -- Severe winds that swept across Colombo and several other areas last night (29) accompanied by rain, have resulted in numerous fallen trees and property damage.

Our correspondents report that many areas are still without electricity.

Train services on the main line were disrupted last night due to a tree falling across the tracks between Wadurawa and Keenawala railway stations.

Additionally, branches falling onto the Puttalam, Kelani Valley, and Chilaw railway lines also caused disruptions, although these obstructions have now been cleared.

In the Grandpass area, eight houses sustained damage due to fallen trees.
