Sri Lanka, July 14 -- Seven elderly residents of an elderly home in the Hali-Ela area were hospitalised after being attacked by wasps from a nest on the premises.

Hali-Ela Police stated that the wasp nest, located on an outdoor roof beam at the elders' home on Kandegedara Road, became agitated unexpectedly, leading to the attack.

Upon receiving news of the incident, officers from the Hali-Ela Police Station, along with personnel from the 1990 Suwa Seriya ambulance service, promptly arrived at the scene.

They rescued those affected by the wasp attack and arranged for their admission to Badulla Teaching Hospital for treatment.
