Sri Lanka, Feb. 28 -- MP Dayasiri Jayasekara stated in Parliament today (28) that a gazette notification has been issued extending the service period of women in the country's security forces by seven years.

He revealed that female soldiers, who were initially required to serve for 15 years, will now have to serve for 22 years under the new regulation.

The MP further expressed concerns that this amendment has resulted in an injustice to female soldiers.
