Sri Lanka, Jan. 30 -- Former Parliamentarian and senior leader of the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Katchchi (ITAK), Mavai Senathirajah, has passed away at the age of 82. He had been receiving treatment at the Jaffna Hospital over the past few days.
Senathirajah served as the leader of ITAK from 2014 to 2024, leading the main constituent party of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA).
He first entered Parliament in 1989 as a National List MP for the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) and re-entered in 1999 in the same capacity. He later contested the 2000 parliamentary election in Jaffna District and was elected.
