Sri Lanka, Feb. 25 -- The Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill for 2025 was passed in Parliament today (25) by a majority of 109 votes. A total of 155 votes were cast in favor, while 46 were against.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, presented the Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill ('Budget Speech') on February 17. The debate on the Second Reading was held over seven days from February 18 to 25.

The Committee Stage debate will take place over 19 days, from February 27 to March 21, with the final vote on the Third Reading scheduled for March 21 at 6:00 p.m.
