Srilanka, Dec. 26 -- Panic struck the Kandy District Secretariat today (26) as a second bomb threat email was received just shortly after police had declared the first one a hoax.

This led to nearly 80% of the staff taking half-day leave and vacating the premises in fear.

The District Secretary informed police of an initial email claiming a bomb was planted in a vehicle within the premises.

A massive search operation was launched involving the Bomb Disposal Squad, K9 units, and the Special Task Force (STF) at around 10.00 AM.

Police confirmed the threat was a hoax and withdrew the search teams following the resumption of administrative work.
