Sri Lanka, Jan. 21 -- The second phase of the first school term for the 2026 academic year commences today (21), across all government and state-approved private schools.
This follows a temporary closure that began on January 10 to accommodate the rescheduled Advanced Level examination subjects, which faced delays due to Cyclone Ditwah.
The Education Ministry confirmed that this current phase will continue until February 13.
Previously, the initial phase of the term ran from the 5th to the 9th of this month.
Schools will break for vacation again from February 14 to March 2.
This upcoming recess facilitates the conduct of the 2025 Ordinary Level examinations.
