Sri Lanka, July 12 -- A schoolboy has tragically died after a grinder blade broke off and struck him in the chest. Police report the incident occurred in the Katana area.

The 15-year-old boy was unfortunately killed in the accident, according to Katana Police.

It's reported that yesterday morning (11), the student visited a relative's workshop and attempted to cut a PVC pipe using a grinder. During this, the grinder blade broke off, penetrating the boy's chest.

He was immediately admitted to Negombo Hospital for treatment, but sadly passed away yesterday afternoon (11), hospital sources confirm.

Katana Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
